The ground reality was that the predator didn’t seem to attack any tourists on the beach. Later on, it was found that the mammal wasn’t a shark, as one of the tourists who watched the horror movie ‘Jaws’ assumed.

The video that was shown to the authorities did not do much to help them identify the predator. Consequentially, this sparked their interests even further. As per USA Today Sports, the authorities, after digging into the matter, declared that the predator wasn’t a bloodthirsty shark but was just a toothed whale (Odontoceti).

The authorities’ interest was reasonable as the number of shark attacks has been on the rise. Many reports suggest that the predators have an unexplainable instinct. As the number of deaths due to unforeseen wild attacks doesn’t seem to plummet, there has been a renewed sense of awareness in the emergency units.

Hungry for human blood or innocent?

Over the years, the number of shark attacks has increased a lot. In the United States, annually, 72 shark attack victims lose their lives to these gruesome predators. A lot of theories have come up as marine biologists are researching the behavior patterns of these creatures.

Even though one cannot fully anticipate the possibility of such attacks, there are water safety measures that one can undertake. It is natural that sharks can mistakenly think of a swimmer or a surfer as a seal. These mostly lead to the attacks, which can only be prevented by raising awareness among local swimmers and surfers in the common shark attack areas.
