The 2023 track and field season has almost come to an end. With only the 2023 Diamond League Finals in Eugene remaining as one of the year’s elite track competitions left, athletes will be making their way to Hayward Field later this week. However, Tamara Clark, who had a mixed season in 2023, will not be participating in the upcoming tournament. Earlier this year, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) banned the sprinter for 4 months between 1 February 2023 to 30 May 2023 for the use of IV infusions. This ban also affected all her track and field results between 25 January 2023 to 1 February 2023. The University of Alabama alum was also not a part of the final lineup in Budapest for either the women’s 100m or 200m.

However, Clark, along with her 4x100m relay U.S. teammates, registered the fastest qualification time at the 2023 World Championships with 41.59 seconds. In fact, their time was faster than the Ivorians, who had earlier set the fastest African time with their 41.90s time. As for the 2023 Diamond League, Tamara Clark missed the first two meets due to her ban but later on, made four appearances in the competition. However, she wasn’t able to register any wins this year in the Diamond League. Now, her latest social media post suggests that she has ended her 2023 season with plans to see a global rap icon.

Track and field athlete attend Drake’s tour

Tamara Clark’s rare 2023 win came recently at the 2023 Gala dei Castelli, when she won the 200m event in 22.64 seconds, ahead of Jamaican Sashalee Forbes (22.74). But it seems that she has put her 2023 season behind her and now looks forward to enjoying her off-season. The sprinter who didn’t manage many wins this year recently took to her Instagram and shared her outfit pictures for Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour. She captioned her post as “I Guess It’s Forget Me” while uploading multiple pictures and also put a Drake song on her post. Clark’s social media post was also reshared on X by Track Spice with the caption, “Off season Shenanigans. Tamara Clark before the Drake Concert.”

Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour is scheduled for 5 July 2023 to 9 October 2023 and is also being co-headlined by rapper 21 Savage in order to promote their collaborative album Her Loss. The Canadian music icon has also been making headlines in the sporting world lately for his comments on the ongoing Noah Lyles vs. NBA debate.

Drake was one of the first people to call out Lyles after his Budapest press conference speech by trolling the track sensation on Instagram by writing, “He thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before…now the whole league doesn’t rate u.” However, Lyles has since clapped back at the musician’s comments in his latest interview.

Noah Lyles responds to Drake’s comments

The Noah Lyles vs. NBA controversy continues to keep people divided, but it has not affected Lyles’ track and field performances in any way. After the controversy started, Lyles participated in one Diamond League event that came in Zurich.

He won the 200m event ahead of his teammate Erriyon Knighton with a time of 19.80 seconds. And just a few days ago, while giving an interview to GQ Sports, Lyles said, “There are a bunch of funny things that come from it, like having Drake notice it. Like, Drake, what are you doing here? Go back home. This is an NBA conversation.” 

Drake has not yet responded to Lyles’s latest comments, but the controversy continues to grow.

As for Tamara Clark, she will be hoping to put this somewhat disappointing season behind her and focus on the goals ahead. Still only 24 years old, Clark’s fans will be cheering for the athlete next season as she hopes to bounce back and make her mark at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
