Even after two decades of her retirement, no Paralympian has ever come close to meeting, let alone beating her records. Now 57, Trischa was born with an eye disorder called aniridia. Notably, she received an iris replacement surgery thereafter. However, her surgery didn’t change her eligibility for competing in the Paralympics.

Trischa Zorn and her kitty of accolades

From 1980 Paralympics in Arnhem, Netherlands, to 2004 Paralympics in Athens, Greece, the American para swimmer has represented her country at seven Paralympics. During her decorated career, Trischa has won a total of 55 Paralympics medals including 41 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze. As astonishing as these stats might look, they are for real.

In her debut Paralympics at Arnhem, she brought home seven gold medals, while at the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics, she won ten gold medals. Throughout the course of her spectacular career, the American champion swimmer has set eight world records in various events that she took part in. For her amazing accomplishments, Trischa was inducted into the Paralympic Hall of Fame in 2012.
