Maybe that’s what sports are all about, embracing the odds and achieving the impossible. When people say you can’t do something, it becomes more important to show them that, of course, you can. That’s the path British powerlifter Dan McGauley chose for himself. With hard work and dedication, Dan not only shut out the haters but also earned a name for himself in the powerlifting world.

Dan has faced many disappointments in his life, but like a true champion, he kept going through everything that life slapped at him. Dan has Down’s syndrome and can’t hear from his left ear due to the autism. However, any hardship couldn’t stop him from becoming the reigning world powerlifting champion.

Except for his mom, there weren’t many people who believed in him. His mother Judith said, “We were told by doctors that he’d never make a valuable contribution to society.
