

2022 is not the best of the year for the Russian athletes. They have been banned from almost all international events because of the ongoing European crisis. Furthermore, many events have been pulled out of Russia because of the same reason. However, the Russian race walker, Yelena Lashmanova, has found herself in serious trouble after a decision about her career in the World Athletics.

In her debut Olympics at London in 2012, the 29-year-old Russian athlete Yelena Lashmanova won the gold medal in a 20-kilometer race walk event. She also claimed the World Championships held in Moscow the following year.
Yelena Lashmanova banned for two years from World Athletics
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Monday released a statement confirming that the Russian race walker Yelena Lashmanova will be banned from sports for two years. In their statement, the organization said, ?Russian race walker Yelena Lashmanova has been banned for two years, starting 9 March 2021, for the use of prohibited substances, a violation of World Athletics anti-doping rules.?

Furthermore, Yelena will have to lose her Olympic gold medal as well as the world championship medal. It appears that the decision has nullified all her previous accomplishments in international events.
Yelena accepts the ban by AIU
The 29-year-old Russian athlete has accepted the decision of the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). As per the reports, “She is set to lose gold medals from the women?s 20-km race walk event at the London 2012 Olympic Games and 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow.” Athletics Integrity Unit has confirmed that all of her results from Feb. 18, 2012, and Jan. 3, 2014 will be nullified.

Previously, Yelena’s coach Viktor Chegin has also received a lifetime ban for the Russian doping scandal in 2016. After 10 years of being an Olympic champion, all her efforts have accounted for nothing.
