“Incredible”: Internet Cheers as Female Rodeo Champion Smashes Records with Second Victory at Omaha River City

The Omaha River City over the weekend was back to host one of its prominent rodeo events of the year. The festive comprising two days of seven events each welcomed cowboys and cowgirls alike. Hosting amongst steer wrestling, team roping and bull riding was the barrel racing. Some of the world’s best rodeo stars present for the evening weren’t just in to win the title by the night but to make it to the top 15; making their way to the National Finals Rodeo.

One amongst the barrel racing contenders was Wenda Johnson, who rode to steal the show. The rider performing at a flashing speed stood to win the audience over. However, when the PRCA ProRodeo took to Facebook to share the winning moment, it wasn’t just the fans on the ground celebrating the rising icon. Watching the stellar performance fans rushed in to share their appreciation.

Wenda Johnson has been steady in making her way through her professional career. Whilst being a rider, Wenda is also a Nurse Practitioner. Finding her passion for the sport of rodeo, Johnson made her first professional appearance in 2019 at NFR.

Increasing her rank from 158th to 12th, and 12th to 5th, Wenda has come a long way. Now keeping up with her increasing stand, Wenda participated at the Omaha River City Rodeo to try her hand at the NFR.

On Saturday, as Johnson participated in the barrel racing, the rider made sure to take home the title. Riding atop one of her two horses, Mac and Mo, Wenda clocked the time at 14.07 seconds. The impressive performance of Wenda as she swooped through the course, made it to the PRCA’s page on Facebook. Appreciative of her performance, the page wrote, “Wenda Johnson flew through the pattern in 14.07 seconds to take home the Omaha River City Rodeo title.”

The post on Facebook amassed nearly 50 thousand views and over a thousand likes. The magnificent performance of Wenda Johnson wasn’t just successful in pulling the attention of the crowd on the ground but also the spectators waiting online.

Rodeo fans expressed appreciation towards the rising star

Wenda’s performance at the Omaha River City called for some admiration from the fans online. Impressive of the duo performers, one of the users commented, “Incredible jockey!” while the other penned, “Great horse and rider.” And agreeing with the caption, a fan had to say, “Wow!!! She really flew.”

While some fans keen on the performance, the others were observant of the rider’s mindful methods. Chiming in, the users commented, “Love!!! No whipping or kicking… just ride…” replying to the user another commented, “she’s kicking just not hard or doing the starfish. A beautiful example of what a clean ride should be.”

The other observer’s comment read, “Wow, love how she rides. She knows she is getting it all from her horse…not kicking and hitting just riding. Awesome”

With her performance, Wenda garnered a hoard full of regards. As the fans continue extending their support, Johnson will next head to the National Finals Rodeo in December. Maintaining her winning streak, the rodeo star will work for a big win.
