Is the Olympic season the only reason athletes push their limits? The answer is, no. Throughout the year, several events bring amateurs, experts, and athletes of different age groups to compete at events designed for them. But there’s one such sport, where we witness more adventure and thrill compared to the others. The spectacular sport of rodeo. When this word comes to mind, several iconic names pop up, and JB Mauney steals the limelight.

The 37-year-old American cowman has achieved nothing but coveted accolades in a career spanning over two decades. One of the two top bull riding legends to have survived atop the rankest bull Bushwacker, Mauney stood atop as the first to bag $7 million. In 2023, in the wake of an injury, his professional riding career concluded. But his competitiveness and fun off-track activities always keep the world hooked, especially alongside Dale Brisby, and fans were given a gander into their raucous shenanigans.

 With the police equivalent of using a taser, JB Mauney tests Donnie’s patience with a similar paraphernalia

For charging the bulls out of the chute, the rodeo athletes often use hot shots, which feel like mild electric shocks. Though this practice has raised several questions over the years, the riders often claim that these help the animals with a little push when needed. But rodeo star Donnie Daytona, who featured in Dale Brisby’s How to be a Cowboy’, also works at Radiator Ranch Cattle Company in Winnebago, Texas. But interestingly, Radiator Ranch has ‘gypsy soul’ Dale Brisby’s name all over it. So, as the boys reunited at the ranch, Mauney tried to fool around by giving Daytona hot shots. Brisby posted the classic scene in his Instagram with the caption, @donnie.daytona be takin them shots like a champ since way back ol son”.

“You point just wherever but like in the leg”, Dayton said. Of course, the devil is in the details and he delved further, likening it as a “jellyfish sting”. Further witting up the conversation, Brisby asked,Will you pee on it?But Mauney’s amusing stories don’t end here. A while back, he surfaced with another phenom.

Mauney teams up with Luke Branquinho

Joining Luke Branquinho for The Mauney Cast has been one of the good decisions he had taken. Hosting The American Rodeo’s leg for them meant catching the athletes for off-track chit chats. Fighting over who owns the podcast, the two compatriots didn’t shy away from using cuss words too. But since the 37-year-old has an image to uphold here” he stopped at the least obscene. As more rodeo or bull riding events may roll in 2024, we await more such fun appearances from the thinking caps of Mauney. Better to say, his fans don’t really want him away from his sport at all, and for good reason.
