Today is Veterans Day as it?s the 11 of November. It’s a yearly celebration to honour and cherish the services of the people who served in U.S. wars, both in the past and now. This special day started after World War I, initially called Armistice Day. It became an official holiday in the 1930s. Across the country, there are parades, ceremonies, and events to recognize veterans.

The rodeo community came together to honor their veterans on this special day. As the cheers and excitement filled the air, Sage Kimzey, a seven-time bull riding champion, brought an extra layer of joy to the celebration. Their solidarity with their hearts beating as one is something that will go down in the annals of remembrance history.

A roundup of patriotic posts from the rodeo community

Recently, Rodeo Austin shared a post on X. In the post, there was a cowgirl on a horse with American Flag. The caption reads,? Today we honor all the brave men and women who have served our country. Today and every day, we thank you for your service.?

However, as it was marked as national holiday, Sage Kimzey also took to an Instagram and shared a story of such a day with the caption,? Thankyou veteran.? Even the North Texas Fair and Rodeo shared a post on X, to honour veterans. They shared,? Today, we are thankful for our veterans and those who have served to keep our nation free and safe. It is because of them that we are able to enjoy life in this great country with our friends and family every day.?

It?s worth noting Sage Kimzey?s wife also celebrates Veteran’s Day through her Instagram story. She has been an immensely supporting wife even during the month of September when he had an injury. Kimzey has suffered his fair share of injuries and has adorned battle scars, most of which he has recovered from, thanks to help from the community, his confidantes and close aides.

Overcoming injuries and rodeo count challenges

In the eventful year of 2023, during the rodeo season organized by the PRCA, Kimzey had a rather cumbersome time due to repetitive injuries. In September, he suffered the wrath of an accident. Before that, in the month of August, he had to undergo surgery because he got injured during the much-acclaimed Cheyenne Frontier Days. As Kimzey sported pretty severe injuries: his collarbone was broken, his bicep tendon was dislocated, and his rotator cuff (part of the shoulder) was also in grave danger. Because of all these problems, he wasn’t sure if he could participate in enough rodeos (he needed to do 40) to qualify for the PRCA XTreme Bulls earnings, which would significantly deteriorate his world rankings in the rodeo community.

However, determined to ride at the upcoming 2023 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in December, Kimzey, despite not fully healing, traveled across the country to participate in 15 more rodeos. This will wholeheartedly ensure he meets the eligibility criteria. The rodeo phenom currently holds the 8th position in the PRCA world standings which is an outstanding feat, in and of itself.
