Mississippi’s youth converge for an epic rodeo showdown

The rodeo weekend in Philadelphia was nothing short of a thrilling spectacle. Junior high and high school students from across Mississippi gathered at the Neshoba County Coliseum. They had a fierce determination to clinch victory and move on to the Nationals in Wyoming. Participants engaged in a series of challenging events, from bronco busting to barrel racing.

Monk stated, “The high school deal is for the kids, you know, and then you know it’s they’re learning responsibilities and they’re doing things right now. That not only is going to take them further down the road in rodeo, it’s gonna take them further down the road in life.” According to him, mastering the ability to regulate one’s own emotions contributes significantly to character development. He expressed that this skill is highly valuable, taking individuals a long way down the road. In his opinion, it holds a level of significance comparable to anything else.
