The five-time Olympian and three-time Olympic gold medalist is also a fashion icon amongst fans and he is well known for trying different hairstyles. In fact, dating back to when he had amazing long red hair, he was nicknamed ‘The Flying Tomato’.

Why did Shaun White cut his hair?

Shaun White was quite popular in his flowing red locks. However, a trip to Las Vegas made him think otherwise. In Jimmy Kimmel’s show yesterday, White revealed why he cut his hair short. He said, “I was on a trip to las vegas and I bumped into Carrot Top.”

He further added, “The Carrot sat me down… and I remember it being like meeting the ghost of Christmas future, he’s like there’s still time for you like I’m stuck like this but you save yourself ..and I remember I didn’t tell anyone I just went and was like top it off.”

The 35-year-old retired snowboarder realized that long hair might forever define his identity so it would be good to change it. He said,I was thinking, man, one more Olympics like.. and I might be running this for a long time.”

Shaun donated his hair

The champion not only changed his look but also transformed it into an act of kindness by donating his hair to Locks of Love; an organization that makes wigs for children suffering from hair loss. Notably, Shaun White is often seen doing charitable works with Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
