Skateboarding on busy streets can be pretty dangerous and include various unassumed fatalities. Just like any other sport, skateboarding also includes a multitude of injuries, and it becomes more severe when it involves a vehicle crash. And skateboarders often get involved in car accidents when going on a spree on busy streets.

The skateboarding fatalities may sometimes end up with ferocious lesions when the skaters get hit by cars or any other big vehicle. Along similar lines, one more tragic accident is reported from Iowa, where a skateboarder got involved in a car accident and brutally injured himself.

The tragic story of Buddy Fett

26-year-old Buddy Fett from Pleasantville, New York was skateboarding on Highway 14 near Illinois Drive, north of Knoxville at 11:42. Following this, Fett got struck by an SUV and was severely injured. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 40-year-old, Debra Ann Williams from Knoxville, was driving the car to the Southbound and collided with Fett on the highway.

According to the KCCI News, the crash took place in Marion County near Lake Red Rock. And Fett was flown by helicopter on the night of 8th August and transported to the Des Moines hospital. Along with the Iowa state patrol, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Fire & Rescue Department, and many other agencies also responded to the accident. Many skateboarding accidents have been reported in different cities in the US, and the digit is somewhat surprising.

The frequent skateboarding accident in the US

Though skateboarding is not a risky sport, non-adherence to safety protocol more often lead to unprecedented circumstances. According to the 2023 statistics of the American Academy of Pediatrics, 85,000 skateboarding-related injuries are reported per year. This massive number is a result of various reasons, including car accidents, which are the most menacing cause of all.

These kinds of frequent brutal injuries in skateboarding also threaten the reputation of the sport. However, one can never assume the dangers it may render, but the best an individual can do is take proper precautions and gear. A current investigation is in action by the Iowa state patrol for Fett. This accident has shackled the skateboarding community as it has given some brutal lacerations to Fett.
