Tony Hawk is a legendary skateboarder who put the sport on the map. During his career, he redefined the sport and made it very popular among the youth with his incredible skills.

Tony’s catchy persona mixed with unfathomable skills pushed people to go out and try the sport. The legendary skateboarder started skateboarding in his school days and mastered his skills to become a professional at the age of 14. Joe Rogan throws a shade at Lance Armstrong

While introducing Tony Hawk, Joe Rogan threw a shade at the cyclist, Lance Armstrong. Throwing shade at Lance Armstrong, Joe said, “You are the Lance Armstrong of skating. this is what I mean, I Don’t Mean You Got Caught Doing Drugs. What I mean is when people talk of professional skaters, Tony Hawk.”

Rogan explained how whenever he would think of skateboarding, the first skateboarder who would come to his mind was Tony Hawk. He compared it to how Lance Armstrong is the first cyclist that pops up in his mind whenever he thinks of the sport.

“I Don’t know a single bike rider other than Lance Armstrong; I mean, there was another guy, I mean Greg LeMond, See,” said Rogan, explaining how it would take little thought to recall the name of another cyclist.

Tony Hawk and his skateboarding career

Tony Hawk was hyperactive ever since he was a child. His mother revealed how he would expect himself to do a lot of things at once. During middle school, Tony got inclined towards skateboarding. Tony set up a ramp and performed a skateboarding demonstration while he was studying at Jean Farb Middle School. Skateboarding served as an outlet for his extra energy and helped him channel his focus to a particular activity.

He improved his skills with time and turned into a professional skateboarder at the age of 14. Tony went on to become the National Skateboard Association World champion for 12 consecutive years. Tony displayed his incredible skills on the international stage and had become the first skateboarder to land a 900 trick.

The 900 tricks involved the completion of two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions on a skateboard. The legendary skateboarder succeeded in his twelfth attempt.
