Tony Hawk is undoubtedly the pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding. He is also the inventor of dozens of new skateboarding moves and became the first one to successfully land 900. For consecutive 13 years from 1984 to 1996, he was named the top vert skater every year. But his skateboarding adventure was on a long pause when Hawk endured the most traumatic injury of his life.

7th March 2022 became an unforgettable day for the skateboarding legend. Hawk announced that he broke his femur and required plenty of hardware and time to recover. Since then, the skateboarder has posted a series of updates regarding his injury and recovery. Now after a year, Hawk is finally getting better and his recent post of skateboarding on social media demonstrates it. He hints at his comeback to skateboarding with a new Instagram post.

When Hawk shared the news about his injury, he promised to be back again. And finally, he kept his promise and came back with an extraordinary skateboarding performance. He shared a glance taken from his previous skateboarding video on a large ramp and doing his famous backside tailspin and posted it on 8th August. He said, “My first tailgrab in over a year! Thanks @transitionphotography for capturing this moment. Here’s to many (or at least a few) more.” It was Hawk’s first tail-grab move of skateboarding after his injury.

His fans were also concerned about his health after seeing the 55-year-old skateboarder with a cane. After that, the skateboarding star updated his fans about his surgery and received millions of well-wishes for his well-being.

To honor his legacy of skateboarding, a documentary was made by Sam Jones to showcase his personal and professional life. In an interview, Hawk opened up and said he was honored to see his footage in the documentary.

On April 2022, the documentary ‘Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off’ was made to showcase the legendary skateboarder’s life on and off the field. It included never seen footage of Hawk and some prominent figures in sports including Stacy Peralta, Rodney Mullen, Sean Mortimer, Christian Hosoi, and many more. In an interview with the People, Hawk expressed his delight after watching the details manifested documentary. He asserted, “I was honored with the things they said or what they observed.

Tony Hawk, commonly known as Birdman is an inspiration for his eloquent dedication and passion for skateboarding. Despite the horrible injury, Hawk worked presenting at the Oscars which helped him enhance his motion of walking. The epic skateboarder never shied away from speaking about his injuries and shared his experience to inspire others. His comeback to skateboarding has thrilled his fans and they have crossed their fingers hoping to see some more from their idol, Hawk.
