“Sock Check!”: No Trend is Young Enough for Street’s Most Iconic Man, Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk never disappoints when it comes to setting new trends, or following one. A recent viral video shows that the veteran skateboarder is up to date with the catchy trends and slang of the current generation. Not only that, but Hawk also finds joy in showing off his knowledge in front of everyone.

Recently, the official Twitter handle of ‘Foos Gone Wild’ shared a clip from one of Hawk’s interviews wherein the skateboarder was seen flaunting his knowledge about one of “foos” viral trends. Not only was he aware of the trend, but Hawk had also memorized their tagline.

On 17 January, the official Twitter handle of ‘Foos Gone Wild’ shared a clip of Hawk flaunting his knowledge of the “Sock Check!” trend. Adding a caption to the tweet, they wrote, “THE SOCK CHECK TRANSCENDS ALL CULTURES AND BOUNDRIES 🧦 SHOUT OUT OG @tonyhawk” The viral clip, features Tony Hawk with two other individuals holding a conversation on a round table.

The video starts with Hawk enlightening the man about why he should wear high socks. Then, he proceeds to subtly drop a reference to the viral trend. “That’s why go gotta wear high socks. You could just pull up the sock, and cover it up. Sock Check!”. Hawk went on to recite the entire catchphrase. “The higher the sock the downer the foo,” Hawk proudly sang.

When one out of the three present in the room, wasn’t able to keep up, the other two further explained to him what the trend was. Hawk ended the topic by saying, “That’s for Foos Gone Wild.” This further revealed how well-versed Hawk was with the “foo” community.

Soon after the video was shared on Twitter, the fans and members of the community proudly welcomed Hawk as one of their own. One fan commented, “He is invited to all the homie party’s.” Another one added, “Ayyyyyyyy! Tony always invited to the carne asada 😂”

Surprised by this side of Hawk, a third fan wrote, “F**K YEA I didn’t think tony hawk could ever get any cooler I thought he had reached the max but nope he had a lil more in him😂😂😂😂” Another intrigued fan added “who knew Tony Hawk was down with the homies?? lol.”
