The Oscars 2022 brought a controversy that is still being talked about on every media platform. While the world was only able to get a glimpse of it through their TV sets, among the live witnesses was the skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk.

He got the opportunity of being a presenter at the Oscars, along with his two sports buddies Shaun White and Kelly Slater. However, it was a hell of a debut for the sports trio.

Will Smith and Chris Rock’s controversy shocked the entire world. Although it was an unfortunate event, the world seems to be divided over whose fault was it and who was right?

Tony talks about the Oscar controversy

In a conversation with Dan Patrick, Tony Hawk revealed what was it like to be the firsthand witness of the entire incident. He said, “When you were there live, you definitely thought this was a setup as he approached the stage and then very quickly realized that it was not the setup, especially with the tone and his voice. It was just shocking. Everyone was. What do we do? What goes on here? It’s unprecedented.”

About the whole experience, Tony added, “Everyone was kind of staring at each other. I don’t know it was like nothing I have ever seen at any event or live. I was just thankful that we presented our award before that happened.”

All in all, it was a wonderful evening tarnished by an unfortunate incident. However, Tony, Shaun, and Kelly were as amazing as ever.
