

Mikaela Shiffrin faced a setback in the World Cup slalom event in Slovenia. Straddling a gate, she could not finish her first run. The World Cup slalom event took place at Kranjska Gora in Slovenia on Sunday, 7 Jan. Shiffrin cited a disconnect between body and brain timing, expressing her disappointment with the straddle as she was also battling a cold this week.

Regardless of the mishap, skiing legend Shiffrin is still leading the overall and slalom standings. At the WC Slalom, one of the most distinguished ski racers, Petra Vlhova, emerged as the winner. However, Shiffrin took to her Instagram to show love and support for her teammates, including AJ Hurt and Paula Moltzan. And fans hailed Shiffrin’s team spirit and ethics.

Shiffrin lauds teammates as they shine in World Cup Slalom
Despite Petra Vlhova’s dominance, Mikaela Shiffrin’s teammate AJ Hurt also took the spotlight with her dynamic performances in the slalom event as she astoundingly moved from 16 to third place and earned her first World Cup podium. Shiffrin admired the awe-inspiring performances of AJ Hurt on her Instagram account.

Shiffrin wrote in her post, ‘’O M G!!! Worst part about first run straddling and sickness? Not being able to witness in person the most incredible performance by @ajhurti absolutely SLAYING to her first World Cup podium ever. That was astounding🤯😭.

In addition to that, Shiffrin also applauded her other teammate and the US World Cup alpine ski racer Paula Moltzan. She was the second American to rank among the top five. Moltzan finished her race trailing 1.23 seconds to Vlhova, to earn the fifth position. Mikaela Shiffrin further added in her post ‘’And @paulamoltzan was so close to making it a double USA podium… what a day🥹🥳 What a absolute beast of a day👏 👏’’ Besides that, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Shiffrin also expressed gratitude to her talented teammates.
