There are a lot of unique qualities that make Lindsey Vonn one of the greatest skiers of all time. Her 5.10 ft height further gave her an edge over other skiers during her professional days. However, there were other factors as well that complemented her performance on the slope. For instance, to maximize her physical advantage, she made an interesting little tweak to her gear.
Lindsey Vonn is one of the very few athletes who rose beyond the sport they played. Of course, skiing gave her the recognition she enjoys today. But her stardom is also a result of her amazingly outgoing personality. The world knows her as a mega-sports icon, and brands are lurking behind her for collaborations and business deals. However, more than that, she is an inspiration and a role model for millions of people around the world.

How did Lindsey Vonn use her tall structure to her advantage?
According to Lindsey, “I’m taller (5’10”) and maybe a little bit heavier than most of the other girls.” While many think being bulkier is a disadvantage on the slope, the skiing legend skillfully capitalized on it. She switched from her regular women’s skis to men’s skis for greater stability and speed.

Explaining the process in detail, she added, “So for me, the men’s skis are more stable. It’s harder to turn, of course, it takes more strength. But I’m able to generate a lot of speed from the turns.”

With a gold medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and four world cup titles, Lindsey is one of the greatest skiers of our time. Furthermore, on the list of overall world cup victories, she is number second behind Austria’s Annemarie Moser-Pröll. However, post-retirement, her life has been busier than ever.
