These are in expectations of the most-awaited World Ski Championships, where the big names in the skiing world will compete for eternal glory. In Utah, one skiing resort has promised a big transformation to herald the new season.

The Powder Mountain Resort in Utah has some exciting news for the alpine community. They have secured $100 million in investment from Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings. Hastings is now the majority owner of the ski resort and has thrilling plans for the facility. What exactly does he plan to do? Let’s find out!

Reed Hastings to revamp the skiing resort

Reed Hastings’ affinity towards the sport encouraged him to gift the athletes an “ultimate skier experience” this winter. According to a press release reported by Standard-Examiner, Hastings revealed, “My wife Patty and I love this place… We’re looking to accentuate what has always made it special”. Therefore, Hastings shall preserve the raw essence of the region and add more modern amenities and infrastructure to enhance the skiing experience.

The 62-year-old billionaire meant to make it more accessible without destroying the serenity of Powder Mountain. Kevin Mitchell, the resort’s general manager, intended to use the investment to procure the necessary equipment and other facilities to help new skiers. It is his noble mission to bring more people to the sport and help beginners progress in their skiing abilities.

With this thought in mind, Mitchell wanted to add more access points using which novice skiers may explore more of the beautiful terrain. He added, “Young skiers will have access to a new magic carpet, an upgraded ski school facility, and Sundown will become the first area of the mountain with snowmaking infrastructure to create the best conditions for new riders”. However, the improvements do not end there.

Exciting upgrades to follow at Powder Mountain

The authorities are also launching a new trail network for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. This trail will be situated near the Village lift and will offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Additionally, experienced skiers can enjoy the 500 acres of steep slopes, which will stay open even at night. The ticket for night skiing can be purchased for just $19, which will not change even during major events.
