Back in 2018, a Twitter user had shared a popular meme from the movie New Jack City. The meme showed the character of Wesley Snipes (Nino Brown) holding up a gun to his close friend.

The user used the image and attached a funny caption to it. Their caption said, “when the race war is happening and I gotta k**l Tony Hawk”. The humor here emerged from the fact that Tony Hawk is a global icon who made skateboarding mainstream. Thus, it is no surprise that people from all over the world and of all races love and adore Hawk.

In fact, Tony himself became part of the fun, having responded to the meme in 2018. “I appreciate the hesitation though,” Hawk had tweeted. Consequently, the meme went viral, especially due to Hawk jumping in on it in good fun.
