There is also contention about whether Hiroto’s flip counts as the world’s first quintuple cork but there hasn’t been an official statement yet.

Hiroto had originally set his sights on backside 18009(five full rotations), which he could not complete a day before completing the 2160. But, when he was able to achieve the 1800, he realized that he still had time to add in another rotation.

In the first five attempts of the 2160, the sixth and final rotation just couldn’t be found. Once he had the momentum, the rotation locked in and it resulted in a clean attempt.

With his recent achievement, it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that Hiroto Ogiwara is one for the future. He could pose a threat to the likes of Redmond Gerard, Mark McMorris, and Sean Fitzsimons. Ogiwara could also go on to challenge the legacy of snowboarding legend, Shaun White, if he were to continue performing at this level.
