The legend Shaun White shares some important details about the game of snowboarding and revealed the reason behind wearing a backpack. He said, “Snowboarders wear backpacks because they have to have a lot of equipment with them. It’s like survival gear.”

In the backpack, there are certain things that the players might require during snowboarding. Shaun White explains, “You usually have a shovel, and you have a probe and the probe is if somebody gets caught in an avalanche, you then take this probe and stick it down through the snow to see if you feel a human being under the snow.”

Apart from the safety purpose, you can always keep some snacks in the backpack as snowboarders tend to use a lot of energy while performing. Summing up his knowledge about the reason snowboarders wear backpacks, Shaun said, “It’s kind of like wearing your seatbelt in the car. You hope you never have to use it, but you got it.”

What is Shaun White doing after retirement?

It’s still early days for the snowboarding legend in retirement and he is enjoying most of his time doing the things he always wanted to do. On his girlfriend’s suggestion, Shaun has prepared a bucket list and is ticking things off the list one at a time. The first thing he did after returning from the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 was to watch a Super bowl game in the stadium.

Once he’ll be done with the post-Olympic interviews and media questions, the Olympic champion plans to rest and take some time off to travel with his girlfriend. Shaun has made no decision on his career front for now, but he surely has plenty of options to choose from.
