Gone are those days when United had generational soccer players. Apparently, the stadium needs a revamp, and the training grounds are outdated, including the Carrington swimming pool. Because of Ronaldo’s involvement, the club will get a new swimming pool due to concerning safety hazards.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to swim

Leaving the club back in 2009, Ronaldo returned to the famous training grounds and looked disappointed. While other clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have state-of-the-art facilities, United cannot catch a break. The club is undergoing significant changes, and renovating the swimming pool is high on the officials’ list. Ronaldo complained of ‘loose, chipped and missing tiles’ that can cause problems for the players. It can cause serious injuries to players who can cut their hands while swimming in the pool.

He spoke to the higher-ups at the Aon Training Complex, wanting rapid changes to the club’s training grounds. With the pre-season training set to start before mid-July, the officials plan to improve the training facilities at the club. As the owners don’t spend a lot of money on the infrastructure of the club, most of the training facilities are outdated. Hence, this has even forced Ronaldo to have a house with an indoor pool to perform his exercises.

Does swimming help soccer players?

Like every athlete, swimming is important for a player’s cardiovascular capacity and stamina. It improves a person’s core strength and improves a player’s lung capacity. As agility and balance are two important aspects for most soccer players, swimming helps players to dribble past their opponents with ease as it promotes core strength.
