Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently turned 42. At the end of the previous season, he called time on his professional soccer career. Moreover, the Swede became the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history. Ibrahimovic, known for his acrobatic goals and his silky ball control, was also one of the fittest in the sport. After retirement, most players tend to lose whatever fitness gains they accumulated during their playing days. Ibrahimovic is not like most players.

Not only does Zlatan Ibrahimovic not do auditions, he ages differently from every other player. The last couple of years in his career were marred by injury troubles. Aside from that, he has been the picture of consistency in every country where he played. If his social media is to be believed, he is still fit as a fiddle.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not afraid to branch out. Recently, he appeared as Antivirus in the film ‘Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom’. The movie also starred Vincent Cassel as Julius Caesar and Marion Cotillard as Cleopatra. Ibrahimovic may well be getting himself ready for another mountain to summit. He implied much the same in his latest social media post. Ibrahimovic took to the Olympic rings and displayed feats of strength that may well be out of the reach of other soccer players. On Instagram, he added the caption “the art of power and control.” However, on TikTok, he added the words, “Getting ready for Olympic Games 2024,” as per the Daily Mail.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a sight to behold on the soccer field. With a regimen that included martial arts, he is no slouch when it comes to training. In fact, he is an honorary Taekwondo black belt. That honor was bestowed upon him in 2010, during his first stint at seven-time European champions AC Milan. He was also, according to Calciomercato via The Sun, in the running for a position with the Rossoneri following his retirement. Ibrahimovic was to act as a go-between for the team and the management. He was unconvinced by that offer.

Ibrahimovic’s other ventures taking centre-stage

Zlatan Ibrahimovic chose to take some time off before taking on his next venture. He has left it unsaid whether he wants to tread that familiar path toward becoming a soccer coach. Ibrahimovic was a standout player during his heyday. He scored around 500 goals in his club career, playing for multiple giants such as Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United. Ibrahimovic is also Sweden’s all-time top scorer with 62 goals.

Sadly, not every great player has enjoyed success in coaching. There are exceptions to that rule, but they have been few and far between. It would be unwise to put money on Zlatan Ibrahimovic not succeeding at that if he puts his mind to it. After all, Ibrahimovic audaciously returned LeBron Jamesjersey with his own autograph. That reinforced the idea he sees himself as second to none. It remains to be seen what he sets out to accomplish next.
