Trinity Rodman came under the radar of TikTok detectives after posting a video on the Jorjiana and GloRilla’s ILBB2 trend. While the lyrics of the song read: “They say shooters shoot… Duke Dennis, what’s up with you?” Rodman replaced ‘Duke Dennis’ with three blanks in the closed captions. While fans bought on, speculation reached fever pitch when Ben Shelton replied.

In fact, the tennis star didn’t just reply but uploaded his own version with a telltale hint. Shelton wrote T followed by six blanks. If you haven’t figured it out by now, T followed by six blank spells, Trinity. This was all fans needed to start the rumor mill, and now barely two weeks after their cryptic TikTok exchange, Rodman and Shelton have gone officially official.

Ben Shelton made it Instagram official, but no one saw it coming. Even the caption didn’t carry any hints. “I been focused, but I’m steady climbin’, I’m nowhere near my peak,” wrote the athlete. However, the sixth picture, an elevator selfie of the soccer star kissing Shelton, stunned fans. Shortly after the post, Trinity Rodman took to TikTok to confirm the news.

“Me seeing the Ben Shelton hard launch…” the Washington Spirit star wrote in her video, acting surprised before revealing the secret. “Then realizing I’m the girl,” added Rodman. Oop,” Rodman added in the caption. The couple going ‘Instagram (and TikTok) official’ also confirmed another thing fans had been speculating about since she posted ILBB2 TikTok.

What was that thing, you ask? Well, it was Trinity Rodman breaking up with her (now ex) boyfriend Trinity Benson. Benson and Rodman made things public on Instagram in May 2024, making a post with the caption, Trinity Squared. However, it’s impossible to say when they broke up as they had kept things under wraps.

Meanwhile, Trinity Rodman, and Ben Shelton going official made waves. Champion tennis players like Coco Gauff and Frances Tiafoe commented on Shelton’s post. “Hard launchhhhh!!” commented Gauff. “We gram now,” wrote Tiafoe. However, this might just be the first of a wave of new things to come in Rodman’s life and career.

Will Trinity Rodman leave the States?

As the rumors surrounding Rodman and Shelton still brewed, Rodman made a statement that made every Washington Spirit fan take notice. Unfortunately, this one didn’t excite any of the soccer team’s fans. Instead, it did the opposite, because the 22-year-old Washington Spirit forward may have hinted at a potential departure.

“I’ve always thought about playing overseas at some point in my career.” the NWSL star recently said. While this may have raised alarm bells among the fandom, soccer icons Sam Mewis and Becky Sauerbrunn didn’t find Trinity Rodman’s statement surprising. “Every player wants to explore playing overseas, and we will have to deal with it when Trinity decides it’s the right time for her,” said Mewis.

Sauerbrunn agreed while speaking on The Women’s Game podcast. However, Sauerbrunn also explained that paying Rodman $5 million might make her stay Stateside. Yet, money may not be the ultimate factor, as Rodman confessed she would “kick” herself if she passed up the opportunity to play alongside the best players in the best leagues.

So there’s a real possibility Trinity Rodman may follow stars like Naomi Girma, Jenna Nighswonger, and others to Europe. Fortunately for Washington Spirit fans, that may not happen just yet. So for now, they can all celebrate Rodman making tings official with her tennis star boyfriend.
