Kelly Slater is on a lucky streak! His recent wildcard entry into the Tahiti Pro 2024 event has given him a fighting chance to display his surfing charm in the Teahupo’o waters once again before his speculated retirement. Amid this, good news is awaiting in the man’s personal life, too! Slater is about to embrace fatherhood as he and his partner Kalani Miller are expecting their first child together. And it is lovely to see that Slater is juggling perfectly between his dad-to-be duties and his big comeback.

Slater’s recent Instagram updates flaunted snaps from his and Kalani’s Fiji getaway. And now, a few other stories inform his fans of further merriment as the couple just had a ‘baby shower.’

Filmmaker and friend to the couple, Tamra Davis’ latest Instagram post features Kelly, Kalani, and snippets from the baby shower they had in Malibu a week ago. The visuals of the perfect blue-skied day, the lush green yard, and pictures of the to-be parents beaming with joy surely bound together a mesmerizing sight. Moreover, extending her good wishes, Tamra captioned the post saying, ‘Congratulations to @kalanimiller and @kellyslater the aunties and uncles celebrating in Malibu we are all so excited about welcoming baby Slater aka #slatergater into the world.’  

The first image of her post shows  Kelly and Kalani posing with the host family- Tamra, Skyler, and Davis, while the second image is a beautiful solo shot of the couple. And up next are three brief videos that give us a sneak peek into the shower’s location, food, and decor. Evidently, the venue was Tamra’s house, right from her dining area and extending outside to her lawn. It featured food from Malibu Farm, whom she thanks in the caption, and vibrant orange mugs labeled ‘Slater Ohana’ from the brand Yeti.

The dining table as seen in the video also shows a tray full of cloth pins with ‘Slater Ohana’ written on them. And a small sign board that describes a fun game called ‘Don’t Say Baby.’ Therefore, by the looks of it, the Kelly-Kalani baby shower seemed a fun-filled event.

Nonetheless, welcoming parenthood signals a massive beginning for the legendary surfer, who recently shared Tamra’s post on his Instagram story, thanking her for letting them ‘invade her house.’ Not just this, but the 52-year-old sportsperson, in an interview, even opened up about what he wishes for his to-be child.

Kelly Slater’s wish for his second-born

In an interview, Kelly Slater recently shared a piece of his mind about his second-time fatherhood journey. He started with the words of affirmation, ‘Kalani and I are in a good place! We are super excited to have a child.’ Following this, Slater remarked, ‘I want to be a good dad!’ His sentiments were evident when he spoke, and it is certain that many of his followers who are parents would have related to him.

Kelly even shared insights into how he envisions the upbringing of his child. ‘I want to give my son everything, but not too much, you know! Just enough so he can have the life he aspires to have one day,’ he adds. Even touching on the aspect of how he has a 27-year-old daughter who was born at a time when he was navigating his career goals, he mentions that for this impending birth, there is a lot of ‘excitement‘ within him but also ‘some lessons to look at.’ 

However, Slater seems crystal clear that his to-be-born child is a priority. His massive effort to celebrate with his partner and friends around the same time as a championship event also attests to this. Thus, the bigger picture is that both the personal and professional fronts look beautiful for Slater right now.
