Nielsen stated that he never intended to be in this unforeseen situation and voiced his amazement and dismay. Up until he received a colon cancer diagnosis, Erik, a dedicated single parent, thought he had succeeded in giving his daughter a caring home. Erik appealed “Undergoing one surgery already, it appears that I may be unable to work for a period of eight months to a year. Nevertheless, I am determined to fight and emerge victorious. It is with a sense of embarrassment that I now find myself asking for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, along with your prayers, would mean the world to me.”
