Kelly Slater needs no introduction to the contemporary world of surfing. Slater, who is also refereed as the “GOAT of surfing,” has been dominating the surfing scene since he was just 20. Currently, the legend is 50 and is still going strong. In his significant surfing career, he has had 11 World Surf League (WSL) titles and 55 event victories.

In an interview back in 2018, Slater revealed his favorite place in the world. Unsurprisingly, the surfing legend did choose a place near the ocean. He also discussed that when he was a child, he always wanted to go to that place.

The favorite place of Kelly Slater

Kelly Slater was pretty fond of the place during his childhood. Fate did allow him to go to his dream destination back when he was just a kid. It was Hawaii.

“As a kid I looked at so many surf magazines and always imagined what it would be like to go there,” Slater said and continued, “When I was 12 I won a surf contest and the prize was a trip to Hawaii.”

The surfer was lucky enough to win the surf contest back when he was just 12 years old.

“I went for the amateur championships and won,” Slater said and continued, “I made a bunch of lifelong friends who I’m still really close with today.” It looks like the pro surfer had socialized a lot when he was a kid, making a lot of lifelong friends in Hawaii.

“If you want to learn, go to Waikiki beach, get longboards and meet the beach boys who carry on the surfing tradition,” Slater said.

Surfing is like a tradition in Hawaii, which was also the reason why Slater loved the place.

Slater’s other favorite place

Well, the surfer also has another location that he considers one of his favorites. That place is none other than Paris, France. According to Slater, Paris has a rich culture, and he fell in love with French architecture.
