Influenza B or ‘The Flu’ is a respiratory illness that causes fever, headache, and body aches. When it’s further complicated by pneumonia, the result is severe. 26-year-old surfing enthusiast Carter Parry had suffered the exact same ordeal that cost him his right leg, followed by reconstruction of his left leg, and his right lung. None of these circumstances, however, were enough to bog down the surfer in front of his willpower. His recent performance on a big wave at an International event is testimony to his courage. When the fans learned about it, they were inspired beyond belief.

His love for surfing knows no bounds
Carter Parry recently took to his Redditt account and wrote, “It’s been about a year since I finally was able to stand on a board again for the first time. There have been a lot of challenging moments getting to this point, but I am now competing in adaptive surf events”. While that in itself was enough to churn excitement among surfing fans, Parry took it a step further.

Parry also pointed out that his division in the league was tougher since others were missing either of their legs. Whereas Parry lost his right leg first to amputation, and then his left leg underwent plastic surgery and reconstruction to continue functioning. Not to forget his missing right lung on top of it.

Carter Parry posted the entire video of his participation at the Hawaii Adaptive event on his YouTube, where he also mentioned that this is the first-of-its-kind competition that he ever entered. He was also unable to stand on both his legs prior to this event. Surfers have come out of horrifying situations before, owing to their love of waves. Parry’s performance at the recent competitions is right up there on that list of inspiring surfers. Suffice it to say, it is fair that everyone’s minds are blown by Carter Parry.
