Kelly Slater remains at the top of his game even at the age of 50. Earlier this year, just a few days before he hit half a century, Slater won another surfing tournament. Coincidentally, his biggest competitor in the tournament was the son of his former rival, Tony Moniz. He won the Billabong Pro Pipeline in Hawaii against Seth Moniz.

Recently, Slater revisited some moments from the iconic tournament. He took to Instagram to share a compilation video of him and Moniz surfing in the tournament. Many fans appreciated Slater for his performance. However, some were of the view that Seth deserved to win more than Slater. The post sparked a debate in the comments section.

Slater posted the video on his Instagram account with the caption, “Heat Of The Year? #BillabongProPipeline #2022WSLMoments” Mentioning the results too, he wrote, “Results: @kellyslater: 18.77 @sethmoniz: 12.53 @billabong” Soon after the video was uploaded, the fandom was left out of their minds.

Cheering her Beau, Kelly Slater’s girlfriend Kalani Miller commented, “Best day ever. Let’s GO! ❤️🙌🔥“. Video creator Bondi Treasure Hunter also joined the comments section, and wrote, “For sure! All hail king Kelly 👑 🔥🙌.”

Complimenting his performance, a fan wrote, “100% Kelly’s performance that day was unreal.” Another one added, “Yes definitely a big slice of surfing history🙌🙌” Looking at the scores awarded to the two contestants, a fan wrote, “How can the judge score a 3 on that wave??? Kelly deserved it though.”

A few of Seth’s supporters also found their way to the comments section on Slater’s post. A fan who believed Slater was well-rested wrote, “Seth should have won. Kelly had way more time to rest.” Another fan, disappointed by the results, commented, “How did Seth only get 3.1 for that epic escape, that barrel totally shut out yet he came through.”
