Surfing like any sport, has its risks and injuries. Grave injuries do occur when surfers come in contact with the seabed, surfboard, or other surfers. Recently a similar incident occurred to Olympian surfer Italo Ferreira during a competition. While participating in an elimination heat round at Corona Open J-Bay, the surfer successfully caught two high waves and was attempting the third wave when the horrific injury happened.

The Brazilian surfer has recently updated about his health through a social media post. After sharing his injury news at the beginning, this was his second update. This has rekindled fans’ concerns about their favorite surfer.

Italo Ferreira notifies about his injury’s medical assessment

The world champion Italo Ferreira has shared the recent development of medical examinations of his injury. The news was shared through a post on Instagram from his official page. In the caption he wrote, “It hurts just to look“. He further explained in the long caption saying, “So I went through some tests and found a bruise on the medial collateral ligament – no signs of tearing.” In the end, he informed, “I am returning to Brazil to carry out new exams and start the physiotherapy process.” He also thanked the fans for their support and affectionate messages.

The Olympian when surfing at Corona Open J-bay tried for a lip line floater on six footer wave with speed. When landing back on the sea surface his back foot slipped which forced his front leg to compress on his surfboard. This resulted in flattering his knee in the direction which cause the injury. After that, Italo waved for help and was scouted to safety by jet ski. The recent update about the medical analysis of his injury has revived concern among his fans about his health.
