Recently, a shark attack on Mike Morita alarmed the surfing community. The 58-year-old veteran was attacked by a shark in Hawaii, early morning on 9th April, Sunday. In a recent video shared on Instagram, Morita shared his terrifying experience on which thousands of concerned reactions poured in.

While some fans praised Morita’s bravery and strength, others sent him strength and hoped he could recover fast. Expressing gratitude to his friends for paddling towards him while he was attacked by the shark, Morita gave a glimpse of his tremendous courage during this accident. 

A dangerous shark attack on Morita

The shark attack took place near the Kewalo Basin in Hawaii while Morita was surfing. The shark attacked and mauled Morita’s right foot. Later, surfers who noticed the wounded surfer tied the leashes of their boards to the surfer’s wound to prevent the surfer from bleeding. Post this, the surfer was rushed to the Queen’s Hospital, where Morita was provided with the required medical treatment. In an interview with Today, Morita revealed he was attacked by a tiger shark in the area.

After the incident, Morita told his horrifying experience. Describing how he prayed to God when the shark attacked his leg, Morita recounted how the shark refused to leave his leg initially. “I was going back and forth, back and forth with it”, Morita recalled.

Adding how his friends who had paddled towards him when he got attacked were his heroes, Morita’s words indicated how he had accepted his injury with bravery and was calm despite losing his foot. Here is how fans reacted after hearing Morita’s scary account of the shark attack.

An Instagram page that shared Morita’s interview clip got many reactions. A fan commented, “It’s great to see him discussing the attack and how is going to be ok! As surfers we all have emotions about the potential of shark attacks. Huge respect for his positive attitude. Heal quickly bruddah.” Echoing a similar opinion, another concerned fan wrote, “Prayers for a speedy recovery and you get back out there soon! God is good.”  The Instagram post was also quick to catch the attention of Blue Ocean Breeze Surf School who commented through their official Instagram handle: “Our team is sending you a health and hopes for a speedy recovery Mr. MIke! We miss watching you out there ripping!” 

Post this, many fans also shared warm words for Morita’s strength in this difficult situation. A fan penned, “strong, amazing, so much respect.” Afterward, another fan also posted, “Chills. How he makes this all about the courage of his friends.” Fans’ comments show how they are moved by Morita’s positive attitude after experiencing a traumatic shark attack.
