A famous gun surfer from Brazil, Bruno Bersot, who settled with his two sons and wife in Maroubra, which is located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, recently suffered a heart stroke and died on Tuesday. The surfing phenom’s family, friends, and surfing community are still in shock over his sudden demise and bereaving his death is an even bigger sucker punch for them.

Described as “a pillar of strength” for his family and friends, Bersot’s vibrant and health-conscious personality was loved by all. Thus, recuperating from family trauma, his sons have eventually penned down a sad note on the disheartening news on a social media platform.

Bruno Bersot’s demise disheartens the family

Bruno Bersot’s death has left a void in his son’s heart. An Instagram post of Mateus Bersot was captioned, “Rest in peace to my superhero. Love you so much, Dad. No words explain how I feel and how much I miss you. You are my best friend and I can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I know in the surf and outside of the surf. I’ll love you forever. Today there is a party in heaven. Fly high Papi”.

The family elaborated that Bruno Bersot died with only the warning signs that indicated mild back pain. Though he thought the back injury to be a reason for the minor aches, the actual cause was probably not known to him – that was a blood clot in his heart. Speechless because of the heartbreaking news, his other son, Luca Bersot also wrote down an emotional note, calling him “the most beautiful dad in the world“.

The heartbreaking post continued to say, “He fought long and hard for everyone he loved. I don’t even know what to write about because it still doesn’t seem real that someone so loved by everyone has died. I have lost the energy to cry. I’m speechless.” The sudden loss was not only felt by his family members but also spread across the surfing community.

Loved ones pay homage to the pillar of strength

While the sons remembered their beloved father, there were others too, apart from the family who paid homage to the Sydney surfer. One of Bruno Bersot’s friends, Kalani Silvester declared on the family’s GoFundMe page that Bruno Bersot was a very vibrant and health-conscious personality. However, despite the exhaustive efforts he took, plus the medical team made, the blood clot seemed to swiftly take over his brain. Her post added to state, “Bersot was not only a beloved husband, father, brother, and son, but also “a pillar of strength and love within (his family’s) lives.”

Deeply dedicated to his sons and the ocean, Bruno Bersot has now left his family abode, but his contributions to the surfing communities, especially in Indonesia and Hawaii have left a mark on his professional work in the surfing industry that will be truly missed.
