A recent death due to surfing has stunned Volusia County in Florida. This death was of a firefighter named Ethan Wilson. Wilson was first noticed near the New Smyrna Beach Jetty on Wednesday, 1st February 2023. Found to be unconscious, Wilson was taken to the AdventHealth hospital where he died on 4th February 2023. The Volusia County Sheriff also responded to this upsetting news.

Wilson was a firefighter who had worked with dedication for the Ormond Beach Fire Department. Now, Wilson is survived by his wife along with a young son. The City of Ormond Beach also issued an official press release after this unfortunate incident.

All details of the unforgettable death due to surfing 

According to reports, Wilson was first noticed floating by a firefighter on Wednesday, 1st February 2023. This firefighter was not on duty at this time. While some onlookers pulled Wilson to the shore, Wilson wasn’t responding well. At that time, the same firefighter who had noticed him gave CPR to him. However, this did not revive him, and was rushed to the hospital where, as per reports, he succumbed to injuries.

Post this tragic demise, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood gave his condolences on Twitter. “Sadly, this 33-year-old husband and father never made the recovery his many friends and loved ones were hoping for.” Continuing, Chitwood spoke about how Wilson’s organs were donated.

The City of Ormond beach also made a public statement. Talking about how Wilson had served bravely for years, it mentioned how Wilson’s death would be a deep loss for Ormond Beach’s Fire Department. “He will be deeply missed and his selfless spirit will live on in the lives he touched”, the statement said. Wilson’s death once again points out how surfing can be dangerous. Another popular surfer named Evan McMillen also passed away during surfing. Now, all details of this painful tragedy are finally revealed. 

Evan McMillen’s horrific incident, which made him lose his life 

McMillen had gone surfing at Dana Point on 18th January 2023. According to reports, the 21-year-old was surfing alone in California. Also, as per the Stab magazine, McMillen hadn’t surfed near the “main peak,” the highest point where the waves broke on that surf point. Despite this, McMillen faced a heartbreaking tragedy.

While cresting on the waves, McMillen suddenly fell into the water. After this, the surfer was unable to make it to the surface. His body was later found and brought back to shore. CPR was also done to save him. Unfortunately, every attempt to revive him failed, and he could not survive.
