Australian outback has been fantasized in culture as one of the most dangerous places one could end up at. Giant reptiles, snakes, crocodiles, spiders, and whatnot lurk on that vast island of a nation. But the Australian waters aren’t any less scary either. With warning signs against giant jellyfish stings on many beaches, and the possibility of large waves sweeping someone away, dangers lurk in every corner of Australia. Falling prey to such treacherous waters, a drowning tourist recently got a second chance at life. All thanks to a bunch of teenagers passing by.
Finn Casper, Koby Kudrins, and Jack Hayes, along with a few other classmates, were on their way home back from the beach, when something came to their attention. The young boys had just finished their surfing class, but little did they know, that a heroic stance from them, which would save a woman’s life was to follow. Here’s what happened.

Casper saw spotted something in the deep water. He said to Yahoo Australia that an object was “floating out in a rip about 100 meters away”. Rip currents form when waves break in shorelines, and water piles up at the intersection of both waves. This was also responsible for 18-year-old Ivan Korolev’s death, whose mother was devastated by it. Facing a similar situation, a female tourist, however, lived to see another day.

The three teenagers soon realized there was someone struggling in the waters. They padded out on their boats to reach there without wasting any time, and just saved the woman from the clutches of death. Hayes told Yahoo, that all they kept thinking was needed to “get her as soon as possible”. Their little heroic act at Woolgoga beach, New South Wales soon became the talking point.
These were 13-year-old kids, one of whom i.e Hayes, picked up the woman and brought her to safety. The young kids were shy about their courageous act, but their surfing instructors Mr. Morgan and John Elliott found their act a brave, proud, and valiant one.

They even wrote in their Facebook post, “The boys remained calm, used their skills and knowledge, and demonstrated the kind of selfless behavior typical of so many of our students”. This not only brought well-deserved attention to these teenage boys in their town but also furthered the name of Woolgoga High School and its terrific surfing lessons.
