Surfing isn’t a piece of cake and sometimes, new surfers require more than practice on the waves. In a recent 2023 video, a journalist named Levandov shared how a surfing simulator can help such surfers learn to surf. Demonstrating how a surfer was learning surfing using a simulator, this video became viral, gaining plenty of views.

Levandov shared this video on Twitter in February 2023, captioning it  “Surfing simulator for surfer newbies.”  This video depicts how a surfer is surfing smoothly on a machine, learning how to balance. So how does the surfer learn surfing through this dry simulator and what are its benefits?

Video of a surfing simulator could push a trend among new-age surfers 

The video portrays a surfer, dressed in black, surfing on the dry simulator. Wearing a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and gloves, the surfer tries to maintain balance on the blue machine.

The technical term for this type of dry simulator is brush boarding. This video depicts how the surfer is gliding on the machine when the brushes are rotating at a tremendous speed. A benefit of this type of dry simulator is that the speed of the brushes can be changed based on the rider’s abilities.

Further, the video indicates how the surfer is gradually trying to go higher before losing his balance and falling. A benefit of this dry simulator is that it helps to develop the skills of balancing, coordinating, and toning the muscles of surfers. This was however not the only invention that is recently revolutionizing the experience of surfing. Recently, another video of unique electric boards has created a storm on the internet. 

Electric boards could gain massive popularity among new-age surfers

This video was shared by China Xinhua news on Facebook on 26th February 2023. It showcased young, Chinese surfers using these electric boards which do not require paddling.

The video mentions, “These electric surfboards, developed independently by a Chinese company, are a hit across waterways in Guangdong.”  According to this video, surfers can ride up to 45 kilometers per hour and the batteries in these electric boards can last for a 180-minute-long ride.
