The two American surfers, Kelly Slater and Patrick Shane Dorian share a very adoring bond. The two friends were captured spending their vacation away from the world’s chaos and in 2016, they were also seen on a 7-day surfing trip in Fiji inviting a surfing winner to join them. Slater and Dorian have even grown up together measuring the length of the sea. Besides all this, Shane announced Slater to be his son’s godfather. 

Slater and Dorian’s son were also seen surfing and crashing the sea together. The young Dorian experienced the surfing phenomena with a surfing legend. Their friendship is known for supporting each other on the big rides and even the big roads of life. Recently, Slater posted a video on his social media wishing his best friend a deary birthday. 

Kelly Slater reminisces a good old memory of Shane’s birthday

On late 20th July, Kelly Slater shared a video on his Instagram story wishing his friend Shane Dorian a belated happy birthday. The pro surfer shared an old video of them and wrote, “Happy Belated BDay for @shanedorian yesterday. Probably influenced me as much as anyone in my life and mostly with his driving in Hossegor in the early days (pardon my weird laugh)! A metaphor for his surfing approach perhaps?” The video was reshared from the surfing filmmaker Taylor Steele’s Instagram post. 

The video showed a car-driving section of Shane Dorian which was shot by Slater who was inside the car with Dorian. The two were seen hilariously laughing at Dorian’s driving skills on some old ranch in France. And the other half of the video showed the two enjoying the waves at Cave Rock South Africa.

Dorian and Slater were drawn by the joy of bog waves and undoubtedly the two rode the waves like champs. Slater and Dorian have participated in many surfing tournaments together and certainly, it is very difficult to beat Kelly Slater in surfing even if the competitor is their best friend. Dorian shared his experience of defeating Kelly Slater.

Dorian And Slater in Twin-Fin final

In 2022, the twin-fin final was conducted in Maldives where Dorian defeated Slater. He has competed with Slater a ton of times but was not able to defeat the pro surfer. Dorian won the season Maldives Surfing Champion trophy with a score of 8.07. He was thrilled to defeat the surfing legend and said, “It’s pretty obvious, but it’s really difficult to beat him.”

Shane Dorian and Kelly Slater are two well-known American surfing pals who have achieved great success in surfing. In 2018, Kelly Slater also tried out an ocean warrior course with Shane Dorian which was designed to teach some beneficial ocean skills to surfers by holding breath. Both surfers share the same enthusiasm for surfing and always seek new water adventures.
