Recently, a shark attack on a 58-year-old surfing enthusiast caused alarm in Honolulu. The attack happened on Sunday, 9th April early morning. This attack took place near the Kewalo Basin Harbour in Honolulu where the 58-year-old was surfing at Kewalos, located on the northern side of the tourist destination Waikiki. Before the arrival of emergency medical services, surfers on the spot tightly tied a cloth on the surfer’s injured area to prevent the wound from bleeding further.

A deadly shark attack led to urgent action by the Emergency Medical Services

According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services and the Honolulu Fire Department’s spokesperson Shayne Enright, a shark had bitten the 58-year-old surfing enthusiast on his leg. As per The Emergency Medical Services statement, the paramedics took action and “administered life-saving treatment to a patient who was surfing and suffered shark bite to right leg.” The surfer was hospitalized in the nearest healthcare facility. However, the surfer remains critical.

Later, the Guardian also reported that many local reports spoke of an 8-foot-tiger shark seen in the area, hinting at the strong possibility that the attack had been caused by the tiger shark. A newsfeed named DNLR also informed netizens how when people came to help the 58-year-old surfer, the shark came back and began behaving with aggression. Post this attack, as reported by USA Today, a boat with 30 people left the area where the attack took place when informed about the incident.

After the attack, the Emergency Medical Services official Shayne Enright also issued a statement, “Honolulu Ocean Safety will continue to patrol the waters off of Kewalo Basin and Al Moana after this morning’s shark bite. Lifeguards posted signs in the area.” This indicates how the authorities are on high alert after the attack. This is not the only shark attack in Hawaii that caught the netizens attention. A dangerous shark attack recently on a 60-year-old man in Hawaii also left thousands of surfing fans worried.

Shark dangerously strikes a 60-year-old man swimming in Hawaiian waters

This shark attack took place on 19th March on a 60-year-old man who was swimming in Hawaii’s Anaehoomalu Bay. At about 200 yards away from the shore, a shark suddenly came towards the man with great speed. Noticing the shark, the man tried to swim quickly towards the shore. However, his efforts were initially thwarted as the shark chased him and later bit him on his left arm and left leg.

Luckily, after this life-threatening attack, the man managed to swim toward the catamaran and was rescued by the catamaran’s crew. The crew not only administered first aid to the man but also helped him to get on shore using a jet ski. Post this, the man was taken to the North Hawaii hospital where he luckily survived the ordeal.
