He turned his threat from sharks to passion by taking pictures of sharks as his way of coping with the fear. He became a brilliant photographer and released a book of shark pictures clicked by him named ?Shark Portraits?. He shared a post on his Instagram account after releasing the book. The caption to the post carried, ?YOU?RE GOING TO LOVE THIS! I’m beyond thrilled to announce the release of my long-awaited photo book on SHARKS!? Following this, he stated that he has the purpose of showcasing sharks in a new light, and these incredible creatures have captured both his heart and lens.?

This has been a very important project for him and has given his best to make this one of the most perfect things of his life. He stated, ?This project has been a labor of love, born from a personal fascination after getting attacked with respect for these misunderstood creatures.? Mike Coots suffered from a shark attack while he was surfing off the coast of Kauai when he was just 18 years old. After losing a leg in this, despite getting attacked by a shark, he got fascinated by them. His latest photo book of sharks is the biggest proof of his fascination. This book is one of the biggest projects for him and has given his true self in creating it.
This book consists of 240 pages and is a hardcover coffee-table book that inculcates big images of sharks looking just like fine art with very keen details. His goal with this book is to portray a fresh photographic narrative of its like being apex. Each and every species of shark holds its own specialty and is just waiting for the right person to tell their story.
