Sometimes you recognize sports by the name of an athlete and not the other way around. The status Michael Phelps has in swimming is somewhat synonymous with Mike Tyson’s stardom in boxing. They both are two of the most prominent names in the sports world. However, do you think they both are super-rich, and if they are, who amongst the two is wealthier?

Michael Phelps is probably the swimmer of the century. He holds every known record in the world of swimming. Similarly, 55-year-old Mike Tyson is still the youngest world heavyweight champion. A feat he accomplished when he was 20. So if we go by their accolades, perhaps there’s no way we can find out who has led a more accomplished career.

Well, they both have been at the pinnacle of the sport they represent, so it’s obvious that they are millionaires.

However, if in a hypothetical scenario there comes a situation when both the legends have to outbid one another, Phelps easily wins by a 1ox margin. While the 23-time Olympic gold medalist has a net worth of $100 million, boxing GOAT has a net worth of $10 million.

Though the reason Phelps easily surpasses Tyson in wealth is that the boxer declared bankruptcy in 2003. According to the bankruptcy filing, he was reported $23 million in debt at that point. The report further says that Tyson’s total value was $300 million at his peak. Well, if he hadn’t lost that money, he would have outbid Phelps in the blink of an eye.

Besides the vast difference between boxing and swimming, there’s something that links these two legends. Apparently, they both were born on the same day 19 years apart, i.e., June 30. Although there isn’t much in common between the two, they share the same qualities of a winner. They both are proof that when hard work and dedication meet talents, greatness is inevitable.
