Daniel Wiffen reveals Grant Hackett’s reaction after breaking his record

The Irish swimming sensation Daniel Wiffen proved his worth by delivering a wonderful performance in the European Short Course Championships 2023. After breaking this record, he was seen in a conversation with RTE Sport where he reminisced his emotions and Grant Hackett’s reaction after his 800m record-breaking performance.

Wiffen, in the interview, shared a beautiful insight into a conversation between him and Hackett. The night before delivering the outstanding 800m performance, Wiffen was in touch with Grant Hackett. He stated, “I think he was just checking to see how well I was going to do, I don’t think he wanted his record to be broken”.

However, the reaction of Hackett after Daniel Wiffen broke his record was absolutely amazing. Hackett shared Wiffen’s winning spree on his story and congratulated him. They both got in touch after the win and Hackett expressed, “Thanks for taking me out of the history books”.

The spectators at the European Short Course Championships jumped up cheering for Daniel Wiffen. After his performance in the 800m, he won the hearts of everybody as he broke a 15-year-old record. This 22-year-old jumped in the water setting his sights on the trophy, little did he know, that he would break such a huge record.

The Irish swimmer set a short course world record in the 800-meter freestyle by surpassing Grant Hackett’s previous mark by almost three seconds. Wiffen finished in 7 minutes, 20.46 seconds to take gold at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Otopeni, Romania.

This was a legendary performance for the prodigy and he feels the same. In a recent interview, he expressed, “It’s obviously amazing, breaking a world record is a dream come true”. However, now after this extraordinary performance, his admirers are on their toes to witness his magic in the 2024 season.
