People expect athletes at the top in their individual fields to be good friends with each other. Being in an elite class, the topmost athletes may often find themselves lonely. During the 2012 London Olympics, the two GOATs almost met for the first time. But fate had other plans.

When they finally met, it was at the unlikeliest of places. When going for the Laureus Awards in Monaco, both of their flights landed at the same time. They were both passing through security when Phelps noticed Bolt. It was the first time they said hello to each other and engaged in small talk. Phelps was in awe of seeing Bolt up close. “His legs are massive. He looks like a horse. So tall.” said Phelps.
