After wowing fans with his swimming prowess, Michael Phelps is now achieving laurels in golf. Recently, Phelps participated in the WM Phoenix Open tournament which saw huge crowds of more than 500,000 fans. An Instagram post by the PGA tour portrays how Phelps hit an amazing golf shot and achieved victory.

The PGA tour posted this Instagram post earlier yesterday. The post was part of a paid partnership with WHOOP. The wearable technology brand has partnered with the PGA tour for the WM Phoenix Open tournament that was played in Scottsdale, Arizona. Displaying Phelps’s real opinion about playing golf in this tournament, the post also highlighted Patrick McAfee’s views on Michael Phelps.

The Phoenix Open was a walk in the park for Michael Phelps

Hitting the golf ball with precision, the Olympic champion played the shot carefully. The golf ball sailed over 8 feet and was the closest to the hole. This made Phelps win the WM Phoenix Open Shot at Glory competition.

Later, talking about this win, sports analyst Patrick McAfee commended The Baltimore Bullet. He said, “When you hear the name Phelps, you think to yourself, ‘Every Time I’ve seen this dude’ he’s been damn near naked and winning’.” Continuing, McAfee pointed out, “Like that’s just all Phelps does is win, win, win.”

Before this, Phelps told how the WM Phoenix Open was the best place to play golf. Encouraging fans to make some noise, Phelps was enthusiastic and pumped up about being a part of the event and announced that the prize money will be invested in the Michael Phelps Foundation for children. “It’s going to change kids’ lives”, Phelps remarked. This was not the only time the swimming champion showcased his golf prowess. Once, Phelps hit a 159-foot eagle putt, creating a memorable golf record.

The Olympian made this record in the 2012 Dunhill Links Championship. Hitting a shot on the short par-4 sixth, Phelps didn’t make any mistake. The ball traveled a long distance and unbelievably reached close to the hole. 

This was the longest putt to ever be broadcasted. Talking about playing golf, Phelps explained that he was able to achieve success in golf since he would  learn more by doing. However, he confessed that he found it tough to play the downwind.
