Mother sacrifices herself to save daughter in heartbreaking shark attack
According to reports on News Channel 8, the 26-year-old mother was swimming with her five-year-old daughter in Melaque’s aquatic park. The park is located a few kilometers west of the seaport of Manzanillo. The town of Melaque lies in the west of Mexico in the state of Jalisco. The Instagram-famous beach town of Barra de Navidad is only a car ride away from Melaque. As such, the town of Melaque and the adjoining pristine beaches are entirely unexplored and only ever get crowded during the weekend. The spot is the favorite weekend haunt for families looking to escape the monotony of daily life. The woman had similar plans until she felt a sudden urge to rush back to the shore.

The platform was in their sight as it was just a few meters away. The two swimmers began to advance towards the platform and reached it within seconds. The mother hoisted her kid onto the platform when something pulled her from below. Before anyone could realize anything, the shark had claimed a huge chunk of her flesh. The emergency crew lost vital moments due to a miscommunication during the cry for help.

In the midst of the ensuing chaos, someone called the emergency helpline number but failed to mention anything about the shark attack. The emergency crew was told that a woman was having difficulty getting out of the water. The fire department came equipped for such a rescue mission, but the disastrous scenario sent them into a spiral. Nevertheless, they quickly recovered themselves and began the rescue task. The firefighters brought her to the shore, but by that time, the shark attack victim had lost a lot of blood.
