While being the top swimmer in the world was hard for Michael Phelps, staying there was even harder. Michael Phelps is an actual definition of greatness, but to be that was never easy for him. It was a result of years and years of dedication and hard work. Furthermore, it’s not just about the physical training an athlete does, but to perform at that level, you need to have a mind of a monk.

How opening up about his problems changed Michael Phelps
The swimming legend revealed how talking about things really made a huge difference in his life. Michael said, “It’s crazy. I go back and it was 2014. Sports Illustrated cover story with Tim Layden and we’re having an interview here in Phoenix and whatever question he asked me just opened me up. Dropped my shoulders and I just let it all out.”

The swimming legend was inspired by his sisters
The youngest of the three siblings, Michael Phelps, was greatly inspired by his swimmer sisters. As revealed by the legend himself, his middle sister Whitney was the world number three and number one in the country at the time.

Michael was certainly lucky to have been born into a family of swimmers. However, he made the best out of every opportunity he got and that’s how he became the greatest swimmer ever.
