Ryan Lochte is, without a doubt, the most influential and successful American swimmer after Michael Phelps. Having won half-a-dozen Gold medals and a dozen medals overall at the Olympics, his achievements speak for themselves. However, Ryan has reciprocated and matched his tremendous success in the pool toe-to-toe in his family life as well. As the celebrity couple patiently waits for their third baby, let’s delve into the secret behind the bliss at the Lochte household. 

Ryan married Kayla Rae Reid, a former Playboy model and the August 2015 Playmate of the Month, in 2018. Kayla and Ryan met in 2016 when the former slid into his Instagram DMs, and that moment marked the beautiful beginning of something special in both their lives.

How Ryan Lochte met Kayla and built a family together

Ryan said, “We talked for eight to 10 hours about everything, and honestly the next day we started dating”, recalling their second date at a club where they met for a drink. Almost instantaneously, Ryan had no doubt about marrying Kayla after that meeting. 2018 had wedding bells written all over it.

Kayla and Ryan have had a boy and a girl previously. While Kaiden, their five-year-old son is the eldest, Liv is their second child who is three years old. Further, 2022 saw Kayla recently share an announcement of her pregnancy on Instagram. The bud is the couple’s third child together, which is due in June next year. Interestingly enough, both their previous children were born in June. Kayla’s third child is also due to be born in the same month.

“Just Wanted an Apology”: 12x Olympic Medalist Ryan Lochte Once Opened Up About His Scarred Relationship With Mother

Kayla wrote on Instagram, “Lochte baby #3 on the way, in June again of course!”. She followed the caption with a tongue-out-winking emoji, thus referring to the incredible timing and correlation of her babies and their birth month.

In the Instagram post, we can see Kayla with her baby bump holding her husband’s hand and displaying a sweet exchange of affection. Both their kids were running around until they joined their parents, held hands, and posed for the photographs. The happy family was seen to be spending their leisure time on an idyllic yet undisclosed beach while shooting the clip. 

American singer-songwriter Tim Halperin’s cover of the Mariah Carey song Always Be My Baby was playing over the clip. Ryan was just a teenager and Kayla was only five years old when the song was released. Today, both are in their thirties and have made a nice, wholesome family for themselves. She compiled the best shots in a video and here was the result. 

Ryan is still very much committed to the sport of swimming and has no plans of retirement as of now. He also wants to teach young swimmers the sport, going forward in life. However, he is in no hurry at the moment and is enjoying his leisure time with his family.

Ryan isn’t the only swimmer to have three kids. His former teammate and fellow American swimming great Michael Phelps is also blessed with three boys with his wife Nicole Johnson. The couple lives in Paradise Valley, Arizona, whereas Ryan and Kayla live in Gainesville, Florida.
