Qin Haiyang is a force to be reckoned with. In the Swimming World Cup 2023, the athlete frequently hit the headlines for his staunch moves in the pool. In leg one of the World Cup, the athlete remained undefeated after clinching three medals. Interestingly, in the second leg held in Athens, Greece, the athlete continued his winning streak with dominating performances.

Amid these staunch wins, Haiyang followed in the footsteps of streamer IShowspeed to have his Christiano Ronaldo fanboy moment on the podium. As most people are aware, IShowSpeed is Ronaldo’s biggest fanboy on the internet and real-life. The streamer turned YouTuber is known for re-enacting Ronaldo’s celebrations on every joyful occasion. While Haiyang did not publicly re-enact the infamous “Siu,” his winning pose resembled the footballer’s past celebrations.  An intriguing comparison between the two athletes has been posted on social media. It has caught the attention of many fans.

On October 15, a swimming fan posted an intriguing comparison with the caption, “Qin Haiyang does the ‘Ronaldo Celebration’ as he is named the overall men’s winner at the Athens stop of the 2023 Swimming World Cup” on X. In the pictures, Christiano Ronaldo, while playing for Manchester United, was captured doing the signature pose with a smile with hands over his chest. At the same time, in the second picture, the rising star of swimming, Hayiang, was spotted on the podium in a similar pose to that of the footballer.

This intriguing comparison comes after Haiyang was named the overall men’s winner in the second leg of the Swimming World Cup. In this event, the athlete secured three golds for his team. In the men’s 200-meter breaststroke event, the athlete clinched the win in 2:08.05, followed by another Chinese swimmer, Zhihao Dong (2:09.18). The bronze was secured by Caspar Corbeau, who clocked in at 2:09.35.

At the 2023 Swimming World Cup, the athlete also etched his name as one of the world’s fastest men in 100m breaststroke. The 24-year-old athlete defeated five-time Olympian Adam Peaty to secure this staunch title.

Qin Haiyang secures a staunch title

At the first leg of the Swimming World Cup 2023, Qin Haiyang became the world’s second-fastest man in the 100-meter breaststroke event. The athlete won the event in 57.69, followed by Arno Kamming and Casper Corbeau, who finished in 59.01 and 59.27, respectively. At the same time, Adam Peaty, who had made a comeback after a short hiatus, could not clinch a win after clocking in 59.85. Following this news on the 100-meter breaststroke event, Haiyang secured another gold in the 100-meter breaststroke event. The athlete finished the race in 58.44, while Peaty had to settle for sixth position.
