Michael Phelps has been chosen to join the esteemed class of 2023 in the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Among the notable inductees are his longtime coach, Bob Bowman, and Trischa Zorn-Hudson, a Paralympian with a remarkable 55 medals to her name. This year’s class also includes renowned swimmers like Missy Franklin, Kirsty Coventry, Kosuke Kitajima, and Cesar Cielo. However, while he gears up for the honor, he made time to share something more personal.

Phelps, married to Nicole Johnson, the former Miss California USA, is a proud father of three sons. Recently amidst the frenzy of his prestigious induction, he shared a touching moment from a trip with his son, adding to his remarkable journey and fulfilling family life.

Sharing a glimpse of his personal life, The Flying Fish took to his Instagram story, posting a charming photo with his son Boomer Phelps & captioned it “Summer Vaca.” The picture showed both father and son wearing white and enjoying their time together.

In a 2018 interview, Michael Phelps spoke about his experience as a father of two, highlighting Boomer’s early fascination with the pool. The same year, the duo gained online fame when a video surfaced, capturing little Boomer gleefully imitating his father’s swimming strokes. The video clip showcased Boomer practicing his paddling skills, displaying his enthusiasm for swimming.

The International Swimming Hall of Fame considers individuals aged 30 and above, who haven’t officially retired, for induction based on eligibility. Michael Phelps, the celebrated swimmer, retired after the 2016 Rio Games, setting Olympic records with 28 medals and 23 gold medals. Since then, through his foundation, he has promoted, “water safety, healthy living (mental and physical), and the pursuit of dreams”. But more so than ever, he has embraced the warmth of his family life.

Phelps’ son Boomer is a fan favorite

Michael Phelps and his wife introduced their firstborn son, Boomer, to the world through an Instagram post. They named him Boomer Robert Phelps as a tribute to Phelps’ swimming coach, Bob Bowman, and his grandmother, Roberta. Boomer is the oldest among Phelps’ three children. He has gained quite a following on his own Instagram account, boasting 517k followers.
