It will not be surprising to read when we say Katie Ledecky has created yet another world record. The American swimming superstar has shattered the 1500m record by nearly 10 seconds to make the new record. Competing at the World Cup, Ledecky finished the race at 15:08:24.
Her timing was almost 10 seconds earlier than the previous record of 15:18:01, set by the German swimmer Sarah Wellbrock in 2019. Of course, Ledecky’s record has shocked the swimming world

In an after-match interview with the Associated Press, Ledecky said that she was confident about breaking this swimming record, hence felt locked into the pace.
Katie Ledecky Once Stunned the World, Clocking the Same Time as Swimming Legend Michael Phelps
Soon after the 1500m race, Ledecky jumped back in the pool for her 200m freestyle race and grabbed the silver medal. Siobhan Bernadette Haughey of Hong Kong won the 200m gold medal, leaving Ledecky behind. On the same day, Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh beat Ledecky in the 400m freestyle race. McIntosh also set a world junior record of 4:21:49 and finished the race in first place.

Other world records held by Ledecky
Ledecky is called a legendary swimmer for a reason. Except for the 1500m record, Ledecky is also the world record holder of 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle. She is also the former record holder for women’s 400-meter freestyle. Excluding the ongoing edition, Ledecky has already won 19 World Championships gold medals in the past. Ledecky’s six individual Olympic gold medals are the most by a female swimmer in the history of the sport.

Besides this, Ledecky also holds the record of the fastest-ever times in the women’s 500, 1000, and 1650-yard freestyle events.
