4x Olympic gold medalist swimmer Ryan Murphy had a rough start to 2024. While the swimming elites kicked off their road to the 2024 Paris Olympics at Knoxville earlier this week, Murphy chose to skip the TYR Pro event with an unexpected announcement. Now, as the upcoming Games beckons the world’s best yet again, the 28-year-old looks fixated on recreating his incredible feats from the previous Olympics once more.

The freestyle swimmer is one of the most decorated athletes in the USA’s history, and his determination looks to be following a true champ’s winning mentality. In a video clip doing the rounds on social media, Murphy can be seen to be back at work regaining his form after being forced to take time off to focus on recovery.

In his recent Instagram post, Murphy gave his fans behind-the-scenes snippets of his stringent working regime. Ryan won four of his six Olympic medals in backstroke, and it’s this old ally that Murphy is looking to fall back on as he gears up for the grand showdown in Paris later this year. Murphy seems to be regaining his strength at the Goldfish Swim School, away from the public gaze. “2024 is off to a fast start.”, reads the caption to Murphy’s latest post, indicating his determination to make up for the lost time.

One take at a time

Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
