Lindsey Vonn and Tennis have often been read in the same sentence sparked by her frequent appearance. Now, come the Australian Open finals, the skiing icon shinned through as the best of cheerleaders once again, celebrating fellow skier and promising Tennis talent, Jannik Sinner.

On the 28th of January, Jannik Sinner etched history by defeating Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final. Lindsey Vonn, quick to catch up, wrote a congratulatory note for the youngster. “Congrats Jan!! So happy for you!! Without a doubt, best skier to win a grand slam,” Vonn wrote on her Instagram stories. The 22-year-old had knocked out 10-time winner Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals to make his way up. Keeping with the momentum, Sinner took home the final sets to become the youngest male player to win the Australian Open since 2008.
“It feels great. I just have to process it, I guess, how it feels the first time,” Sinner told Australia’s Channel Nine. Proud of the feat alongside the 22-year-old, Lindsey Vonn shared a picture of the two in skiing gear and on slopes smiling bright for the camera.

Vonn had cheered for the youngster a day before when the Davis Cup winner made it to the finals. “Congratulations!“, she wrote. “Let’s f*ing go Jan!!!“ she wrote in her stories. The moments of encouragement and the picture of the two, stem and source from a time back in 2022.

Back in 2022, Jannik Sinner took to his X account to reveal that he was hosting Lindsey Vonn for a skiing day. “It’s hard to put into words how truly special it was for me to spend the day and ski with one of the greatest to ever do it,” he wrote, presenting shots from their skiing adventure. The meet-up came following a project for their shared sponsor – Rolex. Nonetheless, whatever the reason behind it, the moment was sure to etch a friendship to last through the years.
